A Thanksgiving Prayer

Today as you enjoy your Thanksgiving meal and watch football with family. Take a moment and remember what we are really celebrating. When the Pilgrims first came to America and braved the hardships of living in a new land. They took a moment and gave thanks.  They took this day to thank God for all that he had provided. Friends this holiday is a reminder and a reconnecting point to be thankful. Not only is it remembering what God had provided for the Pilgrims but really its celebrating with thanks what God has done in our lives. Thankfulness is one of the ways we draw closest to God and yet I sometimes struggle with remembering to be thankful in this self centered world. Its not only about Gods love to us but its about our response to his love. As we spend time with family and eat pie remember with gratitude what He has done for you.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations.
